Pilots navigate the sky using a route plotted with beacons and waypoints. The waypoints are geographic coordinates usually marked with five-letter, capitalized words that help pilots and air traffic controllers stay on course.
The unique things about waypoints, and probably the most interesting to a non-pilot, are the names themselves. This blog series will attempt to share all the best waypoints found in the FAA National Flight Data Center, but if you know of any interesting or funny ones, feel free to tweet us at @EnvoyAirCareers using the hashtag #EnvoyWaypoints.
On this go-round, it’s a roll of the dice, an ace in the hole, the luck of the draw – we’re headed to Nevada! Click on the maps to see the waypoints’ exact location!
