Envoy Capt. Tan Hao grew up in rural China. After seeing an airplane fly overhead as a small child, she remembers telling her father about it. Tan also remembers his response: He was not pleased and told her that girls could not be pilots. She said her family instructed her to never think about flying again.
After her father’s death, she focused on taking care of her mother and brother and honoring her role in a traditional Chinese family. But today, she’s living out her dream of flying as a Chicago-based Captain for our Embraer 140/145 fleet.
