Pilot Interview Tips

Have an interview with Envoy?

Here are some tips on how to ace the process.

Before the interview

Expect to receive three packets, each with their own set of instructions:
  • Before Interview Checklist – contains forms and a list of documents you will be required to complete and bring to your interview.
  • Pilot Employment Packet – fill out one complete packet for each flying job you have held in the previous 5 years.
Make sure you read each packet and understand the instructions. For example, the pre-employment packet needs to be filled out for all flying jobs within the past five years, and all other jobs within the past two years. To save you time, these two documents are auto-fill; simply fill out the first page and information will carry over to the other pages.

Getting Ready: Documents

Once you complete the packets, review each page for any additional required information. After verifying each page for accuracy, print a copy of the entire package and sign each page according to the instructions. Then, scan signed documents and copies (e.g. License, Passport, logbook pages, etc.) and email to epr.interview@aa.com.

Bring originals of all appropriate documents to your interview, such as your original logbooks. Electronic logbooks are acceptable, but we will need to see endorsements for each rating you have received. And remember, all logbook pages should be signed!

Tip: Organize all your information into a folder or binder. This makes it much easier for our Pilot Recruitment team to process.

Getting Ready: Time Away

We conduct all pilot interviews at Envoy Headquarters in Irving, Texas. When you receive an interview date, be sure to arrange time off work, if necessary. If you’re unsure about the time you need to take off, speak with one of our pilot recruiters, who’ll be happy to let you know how long it’ll take.

Getting Ready: What to Wear

We recommend all candidates arrive in business smart, professional attire, such as a suit and tie.

Traveling to Envoy Headquarters

Allow enough time to get to Envoy Headquarters. We’re located at 4301 Regent Blvd., Irving, Texas, 75063. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your interview.

  • If you’re coming in from out-of-town, you’ll receive a pass on an American Airlines flight, as well as hotel and shuttle information. If your flight is delayed for any reason, let a recruiter know by emailing envoypilotrecruitment@aa.com.
  • If you’re located in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area, please allow time for unexpected traffic.

The Interview

The interview day will start at 8am sharp and any late arrivals will have to be rescheduled. Check in with the company representative and sign-in on the interview log. A recruiter will collect all of your documents and logbooks. You’ll be given a briefing about our company and have an opportunity to ask questions about the company or the interview.

The interview will consist of an HR evaluation and a Technical evaluation. (A Simulator Evaluation may be required at Envoy’s discretion. If you are chosen for a simulator assessment, you will be notified prior to scheduling your interview.)

  • The HR evaluation consists of verifying paperwork and getting to know you.

  • The Technical evaluation consists of Jeppesen Charts, IFR regulations, definitions and weather.

At the end of the interview, we’ll let you know if you’re successful and ready to join the Envoy team.

After the Interview

Envoy will run a background check that takes anywhere from a few days to more than one month. Please ensure that all information for previous employment is correct and up-to-date to speed the process. Once the background paperwork is received and processed, we’ll let you know if you have a conditional offer. All conditional offers are good for one year.
