Women’s History Month is here! In honor of the trailblazing leaders, inventors, creators and thinkers, we’re spending a minute with some fantastic Women of Envoy to learn more about their careers and their appreciation for women’s history.
Let’s hear from Dzohara Stroud who is a Recruiter for our Air Operations Recruitment team finding the best flight attendants to join the Envoy family.
What is your Envoy story?
I’ve been with Envoy for nearly five years. I started as a Flight Attendant recruiter and continue working with our wonderful Flight Attendants to this day.
My daily responsibilities include: resume reviewing, scheduling interviews, collaborating with the training department, and — the best part of my job — I get to extend job offers to our candidates. It’s so rewarding to see their excitement!
What’s the significance of Women’s History Month to you? Favorite historical figure?
It’s important to continue to recognize women’s work and give their work value. Women have faced so many challenges finding equity in society, but have done so with effort and sacrifice despite the adversity.
My favorite historical figure is Mother Teresa. She wholeheartedly served and helped starving children and the poorest of the poor.
Why is celebrating gender diversity inside and outside of the workplace important to you?
We all deserve to be treated equally. To achieve that we must celebrate in an inclusive manner where everyone is equal no matter their sexual orientation, religious preference, race, age, etc.
Who in your life has inspired you, or is your role model, as a woman?
I’m fortunate to have two amazing role models: my grandmother (my mom’s mom) and my mother, who were both single mothers. They both have taught me to work hard and never give up on what I want in life.
They taught me to put my heart, honesty and dignity in everything I do; to love everyone equally no matter who they are or where they are coming from; and to help others without expecting anything in return.
I can go on and on about these two wondrous women in my life. I’m super proud and honored to call these two women my role models.
What advice do you have for young women who are beginning to plan their careers?
Everything you do to reach your goals and everything you do in life, do it with your heart and honesty. No matter how hard and bumpy the roads get, never give up.
Tell us one surprising fact about yourself that others may not know.
Where I grew up in Merida, Mexico, my grandmother and I would visit a catholic girls orphanage every year on Christmas to play and talk with the girls.
