60-Second Interview: Alaisea Burns

This May, in honor of Asian & Pacific American (AAPI) Heritage Month, we celebrate the countless generations that have enriched our nation’s history and continue to shape our future. Join us as we speak with some of Envoy’s inspiring employees to learn more about their culture and how they commemorate AAPI Heritage Month.

Let’s hear from Alaisea Burns who is a Customer Services Agent at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Ga. (SAV).

What is the significance of AAPI Month to you?

“Pacific Islanders play a vital role in the celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by bringing unique cultures, histories, and contributions that enrich the fabric of American society. From the rich storytelling traditions of Native Hawaiian communities to the resilience and leadership of Samoan, Tongan, Chamorro and other Pacific Islander peoples, their voices are essential in understanding the full scope of the AAPI experience.

Recognizing Pacific Islanders ensures that their distinct identities are honored, their challenges are acknowledged, and their achievements celebrated as part of a diverse and inclusive national narrative.”

What do you love most about your job?

“Whether it’s traveling to new destinations, meeting people from diverse cultures, or being part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the job offers excitement and variety every day. There’s also a strong sense of teamwork and pride in helping people reach important moments in their lives — from vacations to reunions.”

If you were not in the aviation industry, what job would you do?

“While aviation is my passion, I believe I’d find fulfillment in any role that lets me make a positive impact and keep learning every day. Working for and with military Veterans has always been near and dear to my heart, so a social worker for Veterans it is.”

What or who makes you proud?

“Being part of something bigger, where every role contributes to a global network, gives me a deep sense of purpose and pride. I take pride in my work and how I execute well.

My husband and children also make me proud. This aviation life is not for the faint hearted, it builds resilience in families, for sure.”

Tell us one or two things on your bucket list.

“Learning to speak a new language fluently and possibly take my children to see all Seven Wonders of the Modern World before 2027.”
