Jin Li works on the Dispatch team at Envoy’s System Operations Control (SOC) center, which many refer to as the heart of the operation. His commitment, perseverance and due diligence in his work are what help keep our team and aircraft safe and the operation running smoothly — and because of that, he is one of the 2024 Envoy President’s Award winners.
What inspired you to pursue a career in aviation?
“The love of working with aircraft, planning flights and the travel benefits that come with the career are what drew me in.”
Can you tell us about your career path and what led you to your current position?
“I started my Envoy career in 1998 as a Crew Scheduler for Wings West, one of Envoy’s predecessor airlines. In 1999, I left for a year to complete my education at Washington State University.
I returned in 2000 as a Crew Scheduler and in 2001 I became a Flight Dispatcher. In 2014, I transitioned to the role of SOC Operations Coordinator and have been here ever since.”
What do you believe sets your approach to work apart from others?
“I always try to be positive and work collaboratively with my team, because there is no such thing as individualism in airline operations.”

What is your favorite part about working at Envoy?
“The people — our crews, station operations employees and everyone in the SOC are my favorite part of the company.”
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far?
“Working with the best airline professionals in the business is quite rewarding.”
