Sherry Weber began her career at Envoy 28 years ago in Passenger Service. She currently serves as the Envoy Baggage Operations Supervisor at our Chicago (ORD) hub where she is known for her resilience and adaptability. It is traits like these that earned her the 2024 President’s Award.
One of her nominator’s shared, “Sherry will routinely stay late to cover shift change to make sure the operation is handed over properly so there are no issues for the employees and customers. She routinely speaks to customers regarding bags and she always solves the problem and sends the passenger to their next destination happy.” It is traits like these that earned her the 2024 President’s Award.
We sat down with Sherry to ask her about her career at Envoy and how she stays motivated each day.
Can you tell us about your career path and what led you to your current position?
When I started at Envoy, I began in Passenger Service, moved to Operations as an agent then Supervisor and then to the Ramp as a Supervisor and then to the Bag Team as a Supervisor. Each step has brought new challenges and learning opportunities.
What do you believe sets your approach to work apart from others?
My approach to management is that I’m here to teach, educate and assist any way I can. I try to lead by example and do my best to make sure our employees have everything they need to succeed.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far?
The most significant milestone for me is this award. Knowing that I was nominated by one of my Crew Chiefs is rewarding and motivating for me to be better, it’s something that my parents would have been so proud of.
How do you stay motivated and maintain high standards in your work?
I’m motivated each day by my work ethic that was instilled into me by my parents. Both my parents were hard working and kind people.
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned during my career is to be kind, and to have empathy and compassion for others. Putting our employees first and treating them right, that is what really matters at the end of the day.
Are there any hobbies or interests outside of work that you’re passionate about?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy smoking meat, doing puzzles, golfing, and trips to Michigan.
