We sat down with Jo Ann to learn more about her journey and reflect on some of her favorite memories at Envoy.

What inspired you to pursue a career in aviation?

I loved to travel and when I graduated from college in Illinois, I was tired of the cold weather and moved to the Central coast of California where my parents had retired.  I started working part time in 1993 as an administrative assistant for the Ground Support group in San Luis Obispo, California (SBP).

Are there any memorable moments or significant milestones in your career that stand out to you?

I relocated to HDQ in 1998 when American Eagle merged the regional carriers (WW, Flagship and Simmons).  We all left behind our “small” families at the different carriers and joined a new and much bigger family at American Eagle.  The management teams were so good and made everyone that relocated feel welcomed and valued. The coming together of all of our teams has always stayed with me.

What is your favorite part about working at Envoy? What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far?

I love that you feel valued and appreciated at Envoy no matter how big or small the accomplishment. I’ve worked for some of the best management teams in the industry and thankful that they have trusted me to be a part of their departments.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Own your mistakes, learn from it, and move on.  One of my most favorite statements was said to me by Bev Meehan (who hired me and is 88 now and retired from Envoy 25 years ago) – “If you’re not working, you’re not making mistakes”. Life is short, be happy and make every day the best.
