60-Second Interview: Ebonye Ford

In celebration of Black History Month, we’re sharing a series of 60-second interviews with employees and leaders from all across Envoy. Let’s hear from Ebonye Ford, who is the Director of Human Resources Operations at our headquarters in Irving, Texas.

What is your Envoy story?

I’ve been with Envoy nearly nine years. Since working for Envoy, I’ve held various positions including benefits administration, employee-leave administration, and my current role is Director of Human Resources Operations.

In my current role, I have oversight for HR-related compliance programs including Drug & Alcohol, pre-employment compliance, Workers’ Compensation, ADA Compliance, and employee-leave administration.  My responsibility is to ensure these programs are operating within compliance.

What’s the significance of Black History Month to you? Do you have any favorite historical figures?

Black History Month is important because it highlights the contributions of African Americans from all periods of U.S. history. There are too many to name. I feel each and every historical figure has carved out a niche in history.

Who in your life has inspired you or is your role model?

Honestly, I’m inspired by anyone that has the tenacity to just simply wake up and push through the daily adversity to work towards their goals! “If there is no struggle, there is no progress” is one of my favorite Fredrick Douglass quotes.

How do you like to celebrate Black culture?

I celebrate Black culture daily through food, music, and the arts. I take every opportunity to educate myself and others of the legacy of those who led, overcame, and created a pathway for individuals like myself.

Tell us one surprising fact about yourself that others may not know.

I have an obsession with ordering items online! At any given time, the porch is stacked to capacity with packages.
