Neal Devine has been a dedicated member of the Envoy Carrier Technical Maintenance Production team for almost 30 years. His exceptional work has led him to earn the 2023 President’s Award.
“Neal is willing to go farther and higher than most everyone in our company. He has traveled to Brazil numerous times to inspect and receive the new Envoy birds for our company. He personally has delivered half the fleet from Brazil and was integral to the receiving inspection process. Neal was in Brazil during Christmas break and Thanksgiving break to ensure our aircrafts were getting built in a safe and timely manner. He deserves every bit of this award, being away from his family and allowing our Envoy fleet grow bigger and better,” said a nominator.
What is your Envoy story?
I was a Structural Mechanic in the Army, got out of the Army, and I thought I wanted to be a carpenter. Then, I found out that I didn’t want to do that, so I went to A&P school and got my A&P license in 1991. The Gulf War was going on and jobs were hard to find, so I went back to get my FCC license and got hired on at Envoy. My first day was October 3, 1994, and I’ve been here ever since. I spent time as a Mechanic for about three years, then became a lead and spent nine years as a leader. Then I went into management, and here I am today.
How did it feel to receive the President’s Award?
I was surprised when I got the email from my manager. It’s very humbling that one of my peers nominated me for it. I’m just doing my job. This is what I signed up to do – I raised my hand and said, “Pick me, pick me!” and they did.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The best part of what I do is that I get to see a lot of neat stuff and I get to travel. My kids are older now, so they don’t care if dad’s home or not. So, it’s not too hard on the family.
