Partnerships between businesses and community leadership programs can create lasting opportunities for students, helping them explore career paths, build professional connections, and develop the skills needed for future success. And with Envoy Headquarters located in Irving, Texas, that’s exactly what makes the partnership between Envoy Air and Future Leaders of Irving (FLI) so meaningful.
Future Leaders of Irving is dedicated to identifying, educating and developing local youth into future business and civic leaders. As part of the broader United States-Mexico Cultural and Educational Foundation (USMCEF), the program provides leadership training, career exploration, community engagement and hands-on learning experiences that help students better understand the opportunities available to them after high school.
Throughout the program, participants visit local businesses and organizations, connect with community leaders, and gain valuable insight into a variety of professions. Through Envoy’s partnership with FLI, students have the opportunity to experience the aviation industry firsthand through visits to Envoy headquarters and conversations with aviation professionals across the company.
While those experiences are creating new possibilities for today’s students, they also highlight the lasting impact leadership programs can have on young people long after graduation.
A Lasting Impact
To date, more than 300 students have completed the FLI program, and many have gone on to make meaningful contributions in their communities and careers. Among them is Envoy Captain Bruno Turati, who participated in FLI a decade ago and recently had the opportunity to welcome the newest class of students to Envoy headquarters.

As an FLI participant, Bruno was exposed to new perspectives on leadership, community involvement, and career development. One of his most memorable experiences was working alongside fellow students on a community service project supporting homeless teens through donations collected for the La Buena Vida Foundation.
“FLI opened my eyes to different opportunities and helped me better understand the community around me,” Bruno said. “The program exposed me to different types of jobs and roles and gave me a better understanding of how businesses operate.”
Following a Passion for Aviation
While the program helped broaden his perspective, Bruno’s passion for aviation began much earlier.
“I always had an interest in aviation and airplanes growing up,” Bruno said. “When I was eight, I took a discovery flight in a small Cessna and knew from that moment on I wanted to fly and be in the sky.”
That childhood dream eventually became a career. After graduating from college a semester early with honors, Bruno joined Envoy, a company he had long admired as a hometown airline in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today, he serves as Captain on the Embraer 175/170 and has embraced opportunities beyond the flight deck, including participating in pilot recruiting events and supporting special projects within the company’s Security department.
A Full-Circle Moment
Bruno’s experience with FLI makes Envoy’s partnership with the program especially meaningful.
His journey demonstrates the power of connecting students with professionals and real-world career opportunities. Through partnerships like the one between Envoy and FLI, students can gain exposure to industries they may never have considered and begin building relationships that help shape their futures.
For students interested in aviation, a visit to Envoy offers a behind-the-scenes look at an industry filled with possibilities. As Bruno points out to the students, airlines rely on much more than pilots and flight attendants to keep operations running. Careers in technology, maintenance, finance, operations, communications, safety, security and many other fields all play critical roles in an airline’s success.
Inspiring the Next Generation
As Envoy and FLI continue working together, the goal remains the same: to inspire students, expand their horizons, and help them discover opportunities for their future.
For Bruno, that mission has already come full circle. From an FLI student exploring career possibilities to an Envoy Captain helping inspire the next generation of leaders.
