Volunteers from across the system and the Culture, Respect and Engagement at Work (CREW) team brought employees together at Envoy Headquarters (EHQ) for this year’s Culture Fest, themed “Rooted Together.” The event highlighted the cultures, traditions and communities from across the globe that make up Envoy and created an opportunity for employees to learn from one another and connect across backgrounds.
This year’s spotlight was on the Dominican Republic, with Punta Cana (PUJ) serving as the featured station. In an introductory address, employees from PUJ shared the country’s music, cuisine and traditions, giving attendees a glimpse into the rich heritage that shapes life in the Dominican Republic.

Eighteen booths filled the space, representing countries and regions from Puerto Rico to Morocco, Italy, Mexico, Brazil and beyond. Additional educational exhibits from Women at Envoy (WE), Pride, the American Airlines Credit Union, Envoy EAP and other groups offered opportunities to learn, connect and explore. From traditional dishes and snacks to stories and customs, each stop provided a unique cultural experience without ever leaving the building.
The festivities came alive through music and dance, including two special performances by employees from Punta Cana. Their dances showcased the vibrant spirit of the Dominican Republic and gave attendees an opportunity to experience a cherished part of the country’s heritage firsthand.

“This day is about more than showing where we come from,” said Jacqueline Vargas, Talent Development Specialist, who helped organize this year’s event. “It’s about being rooted in who we are, so we can bring our full selves to work and grow stronger together as an organization.”
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, staffed a booth or helped organize the event, especially the CREW team, whose efforts brought the day together.
