At New York John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK), safety took center court during this year’s Safety Fair, where employees came together for a basketball-themed event focused on teamwork, accountability and safe work practices.

The “Safety Champions” theme highlighted the important role every employee plays in maintaining a safe operation. Throughout the event, approximately 275 employees from across the station visited interactive booths, connected with subject matter experts and learned more about workplace safety programs and resources.

Employees also had the opportunity to engage with representatives from Safety & Compliance, Human Resources, the American Airlines Credit Union, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, CWA and TWU union partners and station leadership teams. Booths offered information on safe work practices, hazard reporting, injury prevention and other topics.

In addition to the educational opportunities, attendees enjoyed giveaways, basketball-inspired prizes, raffle items and refreshments throughout the day.

“One of the biggest wins was seeing employees from across the station come together to learn, engage and share ideas about safety,” said JFK General Manager Muhammad Ahsan. “Events like this help strengthen our safety culture and reinforce that safety is everyone’s responsibility.”

By combining learning, fun and a little friendly competition, the JFK Safety Fair was a success!
