Sharing Career Pathways with Next Generation at AIM PHX

Envoy continues investing in the future of aviation through its expanded partnership with Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM). The extension of this partnership was recently celebrated in Phoenix, Arizona, where representatives from Envoy and AIM cut the ribbon on a brand-new Envoy-sponsored classroom and awarded scholarships to four students who are working on their Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licenses at AIM Phoenix.

Envoy Manager of Air Operations Recruitment Steve Cates and Envoy PHX Maintenance Base Manager Nathan Hewitt were in attendance and shared their insights with aspiring aviation technicians.

“I love speaking to future mechanics because your career doesn’t end with your certification,” Steve said. “What you’re learning now is just the start of where you can go.”

Nathan’s own journey reinforces that message. Starting as an aircraft cleaner 19 years ago, he climbed through maintenance technician roles and is now a Maintenance Base Manager.

When speaking to the students at AIM, Nathan highlighted opportunities beyond the traditional maintenance track. “It’s not just about fixing planes,” he explained.  “There are so many directions you can take your license beyond day-to-day work in an aircraft hangar. Your A&P license opens doors to roles in engineering, leadership and many other areas across aviation.”

During the event, students toured the new Envoy-sponsored classroom, accepted scholarships recognizing their academic achievement and enjoyed sweet treats while networking with Envoy representatives.

Envoy’s commitment to this partnership reflects a deeper investment, one dedicated to safety, skills, and success.
