What inspired your aviation career and path to your current role?
I previously worked in the retail industry for more than 20 years and was looking for a career that would allow me to continue working in a customer-focused environment. When I discovered the opportunity to work for Envoy, it felt like the perfect fit. What started as a new career quickly became something I genuinely love doing. Receiving recognition and Nonstop Thanks for going above and beyond is awesome, but I honestly view it as simply being myself and demonstrating the work ethic I’ve always had.
What sets your approach to work apart?
What sets me apart is the pride I take in providing excellent customer service and creating positive experiences for every passenger. I believe customer service is about more than simply completing a transaction. It is about building genuine connections with people. Because MLU serves many frequent travelers, I make it a point to learn names and greet customers personally when they come through the airport. I take the time to get to know them through conversations, learn about their families, careers, and travel preferences. When I see them in the airport or even out in the community, I always make an effort to speak to them.
What is a memorable career milestone or moment?
One of the most memorable milestones in my career has been this! Being selected as a recipient of the Envoy President’s Award. Receiving that recognition was especially meaningful because it reflected the dedication, professionalism and customer service that I strive to provide every day. Another proud moment was being recognized by the mayor of our community for the service I provide to passengers. That recognition meant a great deal because it extends beyond the airport.
How do you stay motivated and maintain high standards?
I stay motivated because of the people I work with every day. My coworkers are more than just colleagues, they feel like family.
What do you enjoy most about working at Envoy?
What I enjoy most about working at Envoy is the fast-paced environment and the fact that no two days are ever the same. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities, and interactions, which keeps the job exciting and rewarding.
What is a valuable lesson from your career?
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned from this job is the importance of patience and empathy. Working in the airline industry has taught me that every passenger has a unique story and many may be dealing with challenges that aren’t immediately visible.
Do you have any passions or hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by officiating basketball and football games. Officiating allows me to be involved in sports that I enjoy while giving back to the community.
Congratulations, Nikki! Thank you for showing what exceptional customer service looks like every day.
