We sat down with Armando to hear more about his inspiring journey and leadership.
What inspired you to pursue a career in crew scheduling?
Initially, my inspiration to join the Crew Scheduling department was the opportunity to transition to Dispatch, as that was my experience in Mexico. After joining the Crew Scheduling department, I began to enjoy the daily problem solving and fast-paced work environment.
What do you believe sets your approach to work apart from others?
I try to share all the knowledge I have gained from my 27+ years of experience working with Crew Scheduling with my peers to ensure we succeed as a team. Working together is very important to me and I try to make it as easy as possible for others that are new to the department.
Are there any memorable moments or significant milestones in your career that stand out to you?
At the beginning of my career, I remember having to work long hours to ensure the operation ran smoothly. That time helped me to become very close with my coworkers, as every day there was a new challenge or problem to solve together. Some of my coworkers and I have worked together now for over 20 years!
How do you stay motivated and maintain high standards in your work?
A strong sense of responsibility has always been one of my core values. It’s what drives me to give my best in everything I do and motivates me each day to show up at work committed to doing my very best.
What is your favorite part about working at Envoy? What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far?
My favorite part of working at Envoy is the relationships I have built with our crewmembers. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside many Captains, First Officers and Flight Attendants over the years to ensure that the operation continues to run smoothly.
The most rewarding aspect of my job has been the ability to share my love of aviation with my family, as well as my travel privileges. We have been lucky to be able to travel to many places all around the world. Also, I now have the pleasure of working alongside my son who started in Crew Scheduling and is now a Dispatcher for Envoy.
Are there any hobbies or interests outside of work that you’re passionate about?
My favorite hobby is cooking and spending time in my garden. In my garden I enjoy being in the fresh air and seeing the fruits of my labor, quite literally! I love cooking for my family and spending time with them.
